A very wet 1st January -
as is traditional I was out in it like a fat greedy hog for a full session...
Some years ago it would have been a session on the Brown Ale...
Thankfully nowadays its a real sesh - out in the field from pre-dawn to post dusk
Well over 11 hours, covering at least 22 mile on foot & noting a respectable 72 bird species.
( non coastal locations )
Highlights including juv Hen Harrier at Littletown, 2Jack Snipe, flock of 150 Tree Spugs, 3Water Rail, 10+ Corn Bunting, Woodcock, 12+ Short-eared Owl, 6Long-eared Owl, Little & Tawny.
& what could be a more fitting place to end such a wet day than RAINton !
( will add sum pics later - this is uploaded off a phone )
