Tyne to Wear Walk / Iceland 2 - Med 3

A vehicle at each end enabled a pleasant one way walk from the mouth of the Tyne at Littlehaven down the coast to the Yacht Club at Roker

.I arrived at early at Roker & scoped across the Wear mouth hoping to see 'the' Iceland Gull
- a birder arrived a while later to let me know it was flying past my head at regular intervals !
Looking up there it was not 30' away - a beauty shining in the early morning light..........

We drove north to begin our walk down -

The Gin Trap Ninja arrived at Roker later on & managed not only to grab some snapshots, but also to locate a first winter bird too !
( see D.Johnson website for more of his record-shot type images )

A pleasant walk, @8mile &
We added 12 species to my yearlist with another- Fulmar seen only outside of Sunderland area.

Quite a few species noted including A Trowl
( that the Trow Quarry Little Owl - THE most photographed bird in the North..... so much so that we didnt bother ;-)
3adult Med Gulls Inc 2 together at Seaburn.
2 Meds..... yeah, i know could be 2 anythings looking at this !
Great watching the shorebirds including Sanderling, Purple Sand, Ringed Plover, Turnstone & Dunlin in such good light & pleasant conditions.

We also saw 3 Men in a boat - on the beach at Marsden Bay....
Add captain ?
Iceland 2 - Meds 3
Not a bad scoreline - We' ll be back again soon
