Better late than never

Working visit to our local wildlife trusts nature reserve

after many years productive service a pole mounted Kestrel box had to be replaced

We had initially been asked to repair it...... but turned out this was too tall an order in more ways than one...

we managed to re-use the roof, but the remainder had rotten away.

Having rebuilt it ( way back in October) using almost a full sheet of 8'x4' ply,

please note the liberal use of Gold Hammerite

we couldnt physically manage to get it back in place despite having tried with 3 double ladders & 5 bodies....

We had to wait a while for the platform, but made the job easy in the end

Looking down onto the pole mounted box from above - at 45'

This box saw both Tawny Owl then Kestrel both raise young in it during 2010 - heres hoping for another productive year in the Mark II
